In a business that has at its heart the human interaction and creativity, the APAP Conference NYC offers unparalleled face-to-face networking opportunities. No other performing arts conference delivers the number and scope of presenting organizations that APAP does. No other conference features the sheer amount of performances, events and exhibitions: nearly 400 exhibitors, spread out over three floors; more than 1,000 showcase performances at venues throughout the city. It's not only the biggest marketplace for the performing arts in the world, but it is also the top destination for experiencing what's next, and learning who's doing it! Here is what is planned: Professional Development | EXPO Hall 2010 | Showcases | Plenary Sessions | Special Events | Pre-conference Forums | Special Interest/Consortia Meetings | Clinics/Consultations | Other Events Professional Development That DeliversYou've taken the time to respond to our surveys, attend in-person conference forums, participated in our national conference calls – and we've listened! The APAP Conference NYC 2010 program promises more – hear from leaders who are advancing the integration of the arts in the new Administration, share stories and experiences with peers in the new Town Hall, and meet a few legends from the arts world, including the NEA Jazz Masters. Track I: Artists at the CoreWhat are the risks and opportunities for artists who are creating work in an ever-shifting political, socio-economic, and cultural environment? What factors now influence the creation and dissemination of work across genres? Across geographic and other boundaries? Where are artists finding inspiration, motivation and resources to fully develop ideas and complete projects? Artists, producers, agents/managers, presenters and scholars come together to explore strategies and opportunities for making and distributing their work. Track II: Participant Powered ExperienceWhat is our role as presenters, producers, and creators in a participation economy where participants are empowered and have tools for creating, curating and sharing their own experiences? What are effective strategies and new paradigms for engaging audience and community members to co-create and shape their own experiences? Key stakeholders in the process come together, exchange information and ideas, and share recent approaches. Track III: Bold Business MovesHow have performing arts leaders begun to rethink the work, roles, responsibilities and expectations for what we do and how we do it in presenting? Who has adopted bold new strategies for programming, marketing, resource development, financial management, and evaluating success? Experts from our field and related fields will exchange new business models, adaptive strategies, ways to take risks and new metrics for success. The Premier Arts MarketplaceEXPO Hall 2010The EXPO provides an opportunity to see some of the best of what the world has to offer. It is here that you can find the artists that will attract and delight your audiences back home. The EXPO provides the largest international marketplace for those engaged in the field of presenting to stay on top of who is touring, who is developing new projects, when and where. With almost 400 exhibitors to speak with there just isn't a better, or a more efficient way to do business. The APAP EXPO offers artists, managers and agents an unparalleled opportunity to meet buyers, sellers, presenting organizations, intermediaries, and others who collectively lead and fuel the presenting field. As the leading performing arts marketplace in the world, the APAP EXPO bristles with energy every open hour, making your presence there indispensable to getting the information you need to stay on the edge when it's time to conduct business. ShowcasesWith more than 1,000 showcase performances by artists representing all performance disciplines, the APAP Conference NYC turns New York City into a five-day performing arts festival that gives those engaged in the presenting field the year's most comprehensive opportunity to see artists perform live as they make their booking decisions. Are you an artist or an artist manager? Showcases offer a unique opportunity for presenters and others to see and experience your work firsthand as they plan upcoming seasons. With more than 1,000 performances over five days – ranging from pop, jazz, classical and world music to theatre, dance, opera, family programming, experimental works, international sensations and everything in between – Showcases are consistently cited by conference delegates as a top reason to attend the APAP Conference.
