Professional Development That DeliversYou've taken the time to respond to our surveys, attend in-person conference forums, participated in our national conference calls – and we've listened! The APAP Conference NYC 2010 program promises more – hear from leaders who are advancing the integration of the arts in the new Administration, share stories and experiences with peers in the new Town Hall, and meet a few legends from the arts world, including the NEA's Jazz Masters. Conference TracksSaturday and Sunday morning professional development sessions are organized around the following thematic tracks. Track I: Artists at the CoreWhat are the risks and opportunities for artists who are creating work in an ever-shifting political, socio-economic, and cultural environment? What factors now influence the creation and dissemination of work across genres? Across geographic and other boundaries? Where are artists finding inspiration, motivation and resources to fully develop ideas and complete projects? Artists, producers, agents/managers, presenters and scholars come together to explore strategies and opportunities for making and distributing their work. Track II: Participant Powered ExperienceWhat is our role as presenters, producers, and creators in an economy where participants are empowered and have tools for creating, curating and sharing their own experiences? What are effective strategies and new paradigms for engaging audience and community members to co-create and shape their own experiences? Key stakeholders in the process come together, exchange information and ideas, and share recent approaches. Track III: Bold Business MovesHow are performing arts leaders rethinking the work, roles, responsibilities and expectations for what the presenting field does, and how we do it? Who is adopting bold new strategies that respond to the changes in our social and economic environment? Experts from within our field and related fields will share new business models, adaptive strategies, ways to take risks and new metrics for success. |
