Photo by Jeff Tinsley of the Smithsonian Institution Arts Presenters is pleased to announce the availability of travel stipends in the amount of $500 for Arts Presenters members to attend a special forum with Colombian artists on June 29, 2009 in conjunction with the Smithsonian's 2009 Folklife Festival in Washington, DC. A schedule of Folklife Festival performances and events for the first weekend of this festival is available at http://www.festival.si.edu The forum, sponsored by Arts Presenters, Smithsonian Folkways Recording program, and the Embassy of Colombia, provides an opportunity to meet Colombian and other Latin American artists and learn more about presenting these artists here and abroad. It will take place from 10:00am – noon and 1:30pm – 3:30pm in the Folklife Conference Room (2 blocks from the festival site). Travel stipends will be paid following submission of round-trip transportation receipts and attendance at the June 29 meeting. Stipends are only available to current Arts Presenters members who reside outside of the Washington, DC metro area.
